WENDELL OFFSHORE

Serving the oil / gas & petrochemical industry for over twenty years

Wendell Offshore Services commenced operations from offices at Port Taranaki in 1988, and to this day the company continues to operate from within the Port boundaries.

Wendell Offshore Services was originally part of the Kingston-Wendell group of Companies, but in the late 1980's Wendell Offshore and Wendell Catering became part of what is now known as the Wendell Group of companies. Wendell Offshore Services continues to be the market leader in providing leading edge "support services" to the offshore and onshore oil & gas industry in New Zealand.

The initial contracts were with Shell BP Todd Oil Services and Petrocorp Exploration, and involved the supply of labour to load condensate and oil at Port Taranaki, and subsequently to manage the deballast facilities for SBPT and the NZ Ministry of Energy. In 1989, Wendell Offshore Services won a 5 year contract with Tidewater Port Jackson Marine to manage and man the supply vessel "Swan Tide" which was contracted to Shell BP Todd Oil Services - operators of the Maui A Platform. Contracts were then acquired with various international companies undertaking offshore exploration in New Zealand waters. A joint venture with Brian Perry Ltd resulted in Wendell/Perry JV undertaking all the New Zealand onshore and offshore support services for the Scandinavian consortium of Alcatel/STK of Norway and ABB Cables of Sweden for the laying and inshore burying of three 500KVDC 1600A armoured submarine cables contecting Fighting Bay in the South Island with Oteranga Bay in the North Island.

In 1991 a major contract was secured with Heerema BV of Leiden, Netherlands to supply all marine and construction personnel on the semi submersible crane vessel "Balder". The "Balder" was used to lift the accommodation module onto the Maui B Platform and to lay a pipeline between the the Maui A and Maui B Platforms. Wendell also manned the support vessels "Laga" and "Maersk Bonavista" along with the "Rocky Giant" used to cover the inshore parts of the new pipelines laid by the "Balder"

Since then, and to the present time, Wendell Offshore Services has continued to supply management and manning services to the majority of explorers working in New Zealand waters - whether they are undertaking Seismic Surveys or Exploration Drilling services.

We look forward to assisting any company seeking to undertake
Seismic and/or Oil Exploration in New Zealand waters.
